This programme is intended to prepare graduates for operator positions in the process industries in particular. It provides a thorough understanding of the process operations theory, processing equipment including functions and operations; an appreciation of the shift work environment and the responsibilities of process operators as well as a thorough grounding in plant safety.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

The Certificate in Sport Studies is being offered as a one-year full-time programme comprising three (3) consecutive fifteen (15) week semesters. The programme includes theory, practical and service learning experiences.
The programme is intended to provide meaningful and relevant learning experiences for students that promote and encourage a general understanding of sport and its allied fields. The modules will introduce students to scientific and psycho-social sport related principles and concepts in educational, competitive and community settings.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

This programme was developed on the needs of the stakeholders of the animal health and production industry locally and regionally for trained paraprofessionals to work with veterinary departments of the Ministries of Agriculture and the Private Sector, especially the Poultry Industry.
The curriculum focuses on the major disciplines of animal health and veterinary public health. Emphasis will be strongly placed on the graduate to acquire skills and surveillance techniques especially with the threat of exogenous Zoonotic diseases invading the region.

This Programme is designed to bridge the gap in the Ornamental Horticulture industry, between professionals and labour by preparing graduates to enter as paraprofessionals at the middle management/ supervisory level. Areas of study will include Landscaping, Nursery Production and Management, Floriculture, and Urban Forestry. The programme aims to ensure that graduates are industry ready with the ability to think critically, identify and analyse problems, and propose innovative solutions to these problems. Appropriate teaching and learning strategies will be utilized to cultivate the spirit of entrepreneurship and confidence in our students.

The Diploma in Forestry is designed to prepare graduates to enter the Forestry sector as paraprofessionals at the middle management/supervisory level.
It exposes participants to the principles and practices of management of forests for multiple uses - timber, watershed, recreation, biodiversity, aesthetics, education and research. Emphasis is also placed on conservation of the environment.
In addition, graduates of this programme can transfer into a University to read for the Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry.

This Diploma in Agriculture is designed to meet the needs of the agricultural sector for skilled technicians to bridge the gap between the farmer and the agriculture professional. Students integrate practical experience in agricultural production with technical and scientific information that is required to successfully operate food production enterprises. Graduates will achieve an understanding of the biological and ecological aspects of farming systems which will lead to sustainable agricultural production. In addition, graduates of this programme can transfer into a University to read for the Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture.

This programme is intended to prepare you for a career as a shipboard officer in either the Navigation or Engineering disciplines.
Graduates of this programme will, on successful completion of the course and the one-year sea training period, be eligible to sit the examination for competency at the Maritime Services Board. Success in this examination will result in the award of a Certificate of Competency for an Officer in Charge of a Navigation or Engineering Watch at sea. This programme will be offered full time only.

The Animation Diploma is designed to improve and develop the skills of potential animators in the Caribbean. The courses focus on core skills and techniques necessary for successful character animation, story development, animation principles and digital techniques. Participants will work intensively in either 2D (drawn) or 3D (model) using two main software programs, Toon Boom Digital Pro for 2D and Alias Wavefront Maya for 3D.
Participants are exposed to acting, timing, staging, character development, life drawing and motion over a two-year intensive course. The program includes workshops and professional master classes in such areas as script development and storyboarding.
